At the World Weightlifting Championships held in Ningbo, China, Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Guan-ling made a remarkable impact by clinching two silver medals and one bronze in the women’s 57kg category. The 21-year-old athlete showcased her exceptional talent in the clean and jerk segment, successfully lifting 117kg, 119kg, and 125kg. Her top lift of 125kg earned her a silver medal in that discipline, while her combined total of 215kg secured an additional silver. In the snatch category, Chen achieved a bronze medal, rounding out her impressive performance.
This achievement marks a significant improvement for Chen compared to her performance at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships, where she won one silver and two bronze medals. Earlier in the year, she also claimed a bronze medal in the women’s 57kg category at the Asian Games held in Nagoya, Japan.
The ongoing World Weightlifting Championships, which will continue until November 8, are crucial as they contribute qualification points towards the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. However, it is worth noting that the women’s 57kg category in which Chen competed is not included in the Olympic weightlifting program, which features six different weight classes.
