President Lai underscored the importance of resilience, innovation, and shared prosperity as the cornerstones of Taiwan’s strategy for sustainable development. The government is actively working to bolster urban resilience, secure energy resources, expand renewable energy initiatives, and improve both power grid and energy storage capabilities. Taiwan aims to leverage its leading position in semiconductors, information technology, and precision manufacturing to drive sustainable growth and make meaningful contributions to global sustainability efforts.
A comprehensive carbon reduction plan is underway, supported by technological advancements and financial initiatives. As part of this effort, Taiwan has initiated the collection of carbon fee payments to aid in emissions reduction. The government’s commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated by its plans to establish a substantial NT$100 billion fund over the next eight years. This initiative is designed to assist businesses as they transition toward digitalization and net-zero operations.
Additional measures are being implemented to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises through a diversified development program. These efforts aim to facilitate a smoother transition to sustainable practices for these enterprises, ensuring they can thrive in an evolving economic landscape.
